Detox Symptoms You MAY Experience
You may be wondering what to expect in the way of detox symptoms
if you’re thinking of detoxifying your body.
It’s always good to prepare for detoxifying since this is a way that your body dumps toxins that build up from a variety of sources.
These sources may be environmental, based in your diet, etc.
No matter the source, as an expert in detoxification it is recommended you prepare yourself for the process so you see it as something positive rather than something going wrong..
What to expect?
There are both physical and mental detoxification symptoms.
This is perfectly normal, and similar in some ways to what happens when you begin any life-altering activity (like starting on an exercise program, stopping drinking coffee, dieting, etc).
Some of the common detox symptoms you can expect may include:
headache or upset stomach
diarrhea
rash
fever
coughing
emotional distress, weariness or general irritability
aches
While you know you’re doing something GOOD for yourself, it’s natural to wonder why you feel so yucky. I
t’s important to remind yourself at this point that, as the saying goes, “this too will pass.”
Before the toxins in your body can exit, they travel through your bloodstream. That process takes a little time but the results will be a much healthier you.
How long do detoxification symptoms last?
A lot here depends on your overall physical condition.
People who smoke, drink, don’t exercise and eat lots of junk food will take longer to detox than people already living a healthy lifestyle.
For this reason, you may want to shoose a gradual transition away from the things that aren’t supportive of health, while integrating more organic, healthy items.
One example here would be just suddenly becoming a vegetarian. For someone who ate meat their whole life, this transition could be difficult.
So instead of going radical, begin adding more fruits and vegetables into your diet daily while phasing out the meats. You’ll find this dramatically decreases detoxification symptoms.
Others – myself included LOVE the radical approach and “just go for it” all in one go.
Note that as you continue a healthy lifestyle you may periodically experience these symptoms again. That’s because your body begins seeking out toxins that are hidden on deeper levels. When this happens, remember to get lots of rest and drink plenty of filtered water and focus on the amazing positive changes you are undergoing!
Summary:
Detoxification is very good for your body, but it shouldn’t be undertaken without thought and preparation.
Detoxification symptoms can be a little disconcerting if you’re not expecting them and don’t take proper care of yourself throughout the process.
However, keep reminding yourself that it took a while for your body to accumulate toxins and it takes a while to get them back out.
Once you’re done, and begin on the path to healthier living, you’ll find your energy grows along with your ability to maintain or rediscover your health.
